Description

Typical aromas of blackcurrant and rosemary with hints of fennel, whose scent is often carried by the breeze in the vineyards of Quinta Do Vesuvio. In the mouth, the wine offers rich, lush, and silky flavors of black fruit, albeit with substantial volume and a powerful structure. The polished tannins provide a long and luxurious finish.

2018 was a rollercoaster growing season. Fortunately, good weather arrived in July and continued until harvest, allowing the grapes to fully ripen. Despite the challenges, the wines of 2018 are characterized by a clearly defined acidity and pronounced freshness, reflecting the characteristics of specific vineyard parcels within each estate. Total production of only 965 cases, with 1,200 cases made in 2017.

Food Pairing: This port is delicious with foie gras, certain types of cheese (Gorgonzola, Roquefort), as an aperitif, or as a dessert wine.

Grapes: Touriga Nacional 35%, Touriga Franca 33%, Alicante Bouschet 18%, Vinhas Velhas 8%, & Tinta Amarela 6%. The grapes are mainly sourced from the west-facing Vale da Teja vineyard (with an average age of 30 years for these plantings).

Alcohol Content: 19.5% ABV

Storage and Serving: Can be enjoyed now. Serve at 16-18°C (61-64°F). Must be decanted 6 to 24 hours in advance. Vintage port wine can stay open for a shorter time than regular port, which means it oxidizes more quickly. Best consumed within 2 days after opening. Drink from 2028 to 2065.
