This special Waterford was bottled exclusively for the Belgian and Luxembourg markets.
Mortarstown is situated on the stately Barrow River just 2 miles southwest of Carlow. Here Evan McDonnell grows his “Irina barley”. These fields are said to be the most fertile land in Co. Carlow.
Like all Waterford releases, Mortarstown Edition 1.1 was bottled at 50% after maturing in ex-bourbon barrels (37%), virgin oak (22%), French Margaux barrels (16%) and no less than 25% in Sauternes (vin doux naturel) barrels. The age of this whiskey is 3 years, 11 months and 30 days to be exact.
