Description

Here is the very first Plantation rum from Australia. Alexandre Gabriel has single-handedly selected 21 barrels from the Beenleigh Artisan Distillery, the oldest distillery in all of Australia.

This specially selected rum is made from molasses and has undergone its fermentation for 12 days. Very unique yeast was used during the fermentation, which makes this Australia 2007 so special. The rum was then distilled in pot stills.

Subsequently, the rum first enjoyed a tropical maturation of 13 years in the cellars of the Beenleigh Artisan Distillery. More specifically, the maturation took place in 200 liter Ex-Bourbon barrels. To stay true to Plantation’s tradition of a ‘double aging’ process, the rum was then transported to Javrezac in France to mature for a further 1 year in continental. This maturation in turn took place in 400 liter Ex-Ferrand barrels.

Nose: Aromas of stone fruits, such as those of apricots and peaches, combined with notes of fresh vanilla, coconut and raisins. The nose closes with floral aromas of irises and lilac trees.

Taste: Rich aromas of stewed fruit and cocoa are predominant, subtly completed by citrus notes.

Finish: A finish of exotic fruit in combination with vanilla and elegant woody notes.
