  Longrow is the heavily peated malt made at Springbank in Campbeltown. The 18 Year Old is a sought-after favourite – rich, smoky and sweet, bottled at 46%ABV. Longrow was first distilled in 1973, and on an annual basis since 1990. The malted barley is dried over a peat fire for 48 hours. The distillation is always double. This edition is 100% sherry martured. Nose: syrupy pears, candied almonds and all kinds of sweet treats. A classic Longrow, although the peat scent is not very pronounced in the nose. When the whiskey starts to breathe, it releases a scent very similar to that of a campfire. Mouth: As the whisky rolls across the palate, Longrow’s sweet peaty character is revealed, but first the huge rich flavor based on syrup and caramel cake stands out. A dram that makes one happy, but one that takes time to get to explore it completely. Finish: Creamy and buttery with just the right dose of peat, complimented by something sweet and a hint of dried fruit.
