Description
In 2005, the Kilchoman Distillery opened its doors, marking a historic event for the whisky world as the first new distillery on the Isle of Islay in 124 years! The Farm Distillery took on an almost surreal challenge, competing as a small player against seven giants (Ardbeg, Lagavulin, Laphroaig, Bunnahabhain, Caol Ila, Bruichladdich, and Bowmore). Over the years, Kilchoman has consistently demonstrated its value.
The launch of Machir Bay in 2012 introduced the first permanent Kilchoman reference. Two years later, the distillery met the desires of sherry lovers by adding Sanaig. Since then, many limited-edition Kilchoman hits have appeared, yet a third permanent bottle had been missing until now. On March 25, 2024, we proudly unveil the Kilchoman Batch Strength!
What should you expect? We aged this exceptional whisky in a robust combination of re-charred red wine casks, oloroso sherry casks, and bourbon barrels. After aging, we added a few drops of water to achieve a Batch Strength of 57% abv. This process yields a colossal dram that blends Kilchoman’s signature peat smoke and citrus character with notes of dark fruit, rich spices, and salted caramel. Cheers!
