Description
GlenAllachie 10Y Spanish Virgin Oak has a rich mahogany color. It gains its spicy flavors through maturation in Spanish oak hogsheads (Quercus Robur). The oak comes from Galicia and Asturias, regions in the Cantabrian Mountains, where the cool, damp climate affects the wood.
The oak is air-dried for 18 months before being roasted and charred to a medium level. This process opens the wood and allows the spirit to draw out its character. The secondary maturation in these virgin casks deepens the whisky’s color and adds flavors of dried fruit, maraschino cherries, and hints of ginger.
