Description
Cask F61B3 is a 16-year-old Pays d’Auge calvados that received a finishing touch in Mars whisky barrels from Japan, bottled at 45.5%. We were immediately captivated by the intriguing harmony between the Normandy Maison Drouin’s house style on one hand and the refined influences of the Mars whisky profile from Japan on the other.
Tasting Profile:
Nose: Generous. Notes of cooked apples, poached pears, and sweet spices (cinnamon, vanilla). Then, malted barley and toffee.
Palate: All finesse and subtlety. Malted barley is the hallmark of this palate, and the apple and malt blend perfectly without one overpowering the other. This tandem is rounded out by gentle notes of toasted oak, cinnamon, and licorice.
Finish: Caramelized apple and hints of noble wood.
