Description
Storm – Chapter nine – Fable
- Region: Speyside
- Address: Mulben, Banffshire
- Founded: 1974
Auchriosk is a distillery many have yet to hear of.
It is a relative newbie when compared to some of its ancient Speyside counterparts.
First bottled in 1986 as a single malt, it was noted for its subtle, soft fruity qualities.
It’s those qualities we are looking for when selecting casks from Auchroisk.
Matured in American oak which helps us build flavours of candied fruits, oat biscuits and marmalade; an intriguing single malt.
There is a hint of pepper on the finish which is a pleasant surprise.
Nose
Light vanilla caramel fudge, ginger biscuits, zesty baked pear.
Palate
Quite buttery, plenty of fresh green citrus on the palate. Apple skin, light acidity, candied ginger. With water added – plenty more fresh green herbal notes. Becomes quite nutty and biscuity with ground almonds and sweet oats.
Finish
Medium – short finish. Dry at first with a sweet nuttiness that makes way to fresh-cut grass and freshly baked bread.
