SPIRITS IN THE SKY (SITS) – ZONDAG 13 NOVEMBER 2022 te BRUSSEL

Naar jaarlijkse traditie trekken we naar hét spirit festival van België en dan nog wel in ons eigen stad Brussel. Voor alle nieuwe leden van DéGust kan het lidgeld de inkom van het festival bekostigen. Dit evenement is hét moment bij uitstek om je te verdiepen in een zeer breed assortiment van sterke dranken, gaande van Whisky over Armagnac, Calvados, Cognac tot Rum. Ook versterkte wijnen zoals Porto of Sherry zijn hier te vinden.

Voor mensen die hun eerste stappen zetten in de wereld van sterk gestookte dranken kan dit alles wat overdonderend zijn en weet je vaak niet waar te beginnen. Uiteraard kan je altijd op goed geluk erin duiken, maar mijn persoonlijke ervaring is dat met een goede introductie de interesse, de passie, het plezier en het genot sneller gevonden wordt.

Dus voor al de geïnteresseerden wordt nog snel lid van DéGust en kom mee op een uitmuntend, degustatief namiddagje in Brussel!

Lady of the Glen

With the Box Bizar Project coming closer I am exploring some new brands that offer quality whisky. One of these new independent brands that caught my eye is Lady of the Glen.

All Lady of the Glen brand releases are hand bottled at natural cask strength, without any chill filtering or colouring which means the original taste remains unaffected and the end flavour is pure, full, and always unique.

Each bottle alongside its distinctive floral label and whisky, receives a hand detailed number, making the bottles as individual as the whisky they contain.

Lady of the Glen whiskies are a homage to the long tradition of independent bottling in Scotland and of outstanding and unhurried techniques that create a product that is both rare and special.

FABLE Whisky

Fable Whisky will offer you some lesser known whisky. Most of these brands are being used for blended scotch. This might not sound all that great, but realise that these brands are chosen to give body and character to the blend with only a ‘small’ percentage of malt whisky being used. This means that these brands have some strong flavours and aroma’s to offer, if presented as a Single Malt.

Fable offers straight forward whisky at high proof. All bottles are of similar age and have been matured on ex-bourbon casks. So you get your classic whisky, which reflects very well the character of the distillery. Because of the similar ages you are able to compare these distillery characters to one and another.

Want to taste TERROIRE in whisky

This is probably one of the coolest projects in the whisky industry of the last couple of years. I know it is a hard nut to crack as the available information given is massive and it is something we are less familiar with in the wonderful world of whisky.


And yes, they’ve released in all their enthusiasm too much, too quickly, which makes it hard to buy every release, but the goal of proofing TERROIRE in whisky is sooooo cooooolllll!

Maybe it is not scientifically proven, but if you have ever tried two samples of new make Waterford that have been distilled identically and have been matured in the same manner the different flavours coming from the two samples will convince you.

Come visit us at WHISKE

On Sunday 11th September 2022 Whisky à la Belge will be at WHISKE, a whisky and spirits festival in the Kempen in Belgium. There are over 40 stands of importers, distributors, producers,… We will be at the stand of Sven Cipido Whisky Consultancy .

It will be the first festival we join after we launched our first edition Arran à la Belge a few years back at MEUG Festival. So dare to think out of the box and come and try Glen Moray finished on a Kriek Cantillon Lambiek cask. We can also talk about my new project, BOX BIZAR, which is underconstruction in Sint-Genesius-Rode.
