Description
Whisky for the hammock!
Tropical scents and Caribbean spices mingle with the taste of malted, West Jutland rye in Stauning’s mildest and most laid-back distillate to date. A classic rye whisky aged in Cuban rum barrels.
Stauning Rye is a classic in their assortment, but this version has received an exotic twist. Brewed with pure West Jutland ingredients. 100% floor malted rye and barley. Double-distilled over open fire. 3 years in new, charred American oak barrels. And then sent into a 6 months exile in Cuban rum barrels. The result is an unusually mild and caressing whisky with a noticeable touch of sun-ripened fruits and dark spices.
Worth knowing Cuban rum is made from the juice of sugarcane, which after distillation is aged in oak barrels. Stauning uses open fire to heat the small pot stills we use to distill our whisky. This provides intense heat and a deeper flavor palette with nuances of chocolate, caramel, and roasted nuts. The whisky contains no artificial flavors or colors, and is technically a Straight Rye Whisky.
Tastes like the Caribbean’s sandy beaches mixed with the dunes of the North Sea. The nose encounters honey, lime, cinnamon, mint, and vanilla. On the tongue, a rich taste of dark fruits: figs, apricots, walnut, and cherry. Should be enjoyed with flip-flops on.
